.“This won’t work,” Uri muttered. He swiftly switched places with Kevin. While on all fours, the shifter’s back got crushed by the large paw.“You idiot,” Kevin shouted. He slid from under Uri.No one would get hurt.Even as a human, he couldn’t allow such thing to happen to any of them.He climbed onto the dragon’s paw, which moved away from Uri’s back and flailed. But he couldn’t let go.It was getting serious. He needed to protect everyone. The gate couldn’t be closed again.Kevin managed to go onto the beast’s back. The dragon snarled and flew away, but the others got on top of Uri.He took a zapper from his pocket.“Let’s go back,” he demanded and zapped the dragon’s side of the neck, which made it fly back.As they got closer to the other dragons, Kevin stood, the wind almost pushing him backward. The beast began to change directions, but Kevin zapped its back before he jumped onto the sand. The dragon arched and fell, taking the rest of the group out of the way.Uri got up and patted his clothes.“You’re fine,” Kevin said.He ran up to the shifter and hugged him tightly. He then regarded the others.“You, go help Rachel,” he told one of the gatekeepers.“The others can take the dragon-shifters in while they’re hurt.We need to know where they escaped from.” As he delegated, units of shifters arrived to the scene. Some landed while others approached them by the land or from the ocean.“These criminals were trying to escape to the human world,” a busty woman in a green uniform said as she dismounted a Basilisk.“Thank you for intercepting them.”Kevin raised a brow as the agents poured buckets of a gooey substance. It made the dragons shift back to their human forms.“How did they get away?” he asked her.“Unfortunately, we put them in the same facility. The Blue Heaven Prison doesn’t have as much security as the Red Heaven,” she answered.“So, they teamed up and made their escape. But this time we won’t go easy on them.” The woman bowed and mounted the Basilisk.“It’s time to go back!”They watched as the area cleared in a matter of seconds. One of the agents handed Uri the handcuffs Kevin had used.Uri looked to his left and noticed Aengus coming back with Dylan.Kevin made his way toward them.“I would help, but he wanted to come here,” Aengus said.He shifted into a human. Why did he look so different when Dylan was around?Kevin narrowed his eyes.Could it be more obvious that Aengus had fallen for Dylan? Since his brother didn’t look bothered, nothing must have happened between them. After all, Dylan didn’t like the panther-shifter.“Now,” he started, “Let’s make the right strategies. This incident can’t happen again. If we weren’t around, who knew what could happen.Just in case, let’s assign more people as backup. And it must be shifters who are close-by.I also suggest we invite my team to help.We were trained for this kind of situations.” Everyone agreed unanimously. No matter what they did, danger still lurked at any time.Chapter 9With the strategies planned, Kevin and Uri got ready to return to the human world. But not before someone decided to interrupt their victory.Dominic arrived. He landed on the sand and shifted.“Hey, where’s the fun? I was called here because of a party.”Kevin sighed.“We were attacked, but it’s been taken care of.” He flinched when the shifter approached him.“Stay away,” he demanded, holding on to Uri’s arm.“I just want to greet you,” Dominic said, grinning deviously. He raised a brow when Uri got in the way.“Do you really think I would do something to him when you’re right here?” He walked around the other shifter.“Come on, Kevin, don’t be shy.”“You’re the one who’s a pervert,” Kevin shot back.Dominic behaved like a shady man, even though handsome. He didn’t know when the shifter was serious or not.“Well, if it’s just saying hi, I guess it’s fine.” He bowed slightly.Dominic laughed.“Not like that.It has to be as the humans do,” he said and pulled Kevin by the arm, into a tight hug.“See? There’s no problem.” He lowered his hands down the human’s back, until they groped his butt cheeks.Growling under his breath, Uri lifted his foot off of the sand. With a light kick, he sent Dominic flying.Scoffing, he held Kevin’s hand.“He’s mine,” he said firmly.Kevin smiled at his lover.“You’re such a gentleman,” he whispered and pecked the shifter’s cheek, making him smile.Dominic stood.“Fine, I’ll look for someone else,” he said, looking around.“Ah, a perfect target. Not exactly my type, but great for now.” He walked over to Dylan.“Hey, cutie.Do you have a boyfriend?”Dylan raised a brow.A smirk formed on his lips.“Are you sure you can handle me?” he asked with a deep voice, closing the distance between them.“I would pound so hard into your—” He got cut off when Dominic waved his hands frantically.“I’ll pass,” the shifter said immediately.“Even if you’re human, I need a submissive one.” He turned elsewhere.Kevin chuckled.Dylan always had his ways to push others away.At least he could handle himself against a perverted shifter.“We should be heading back home now. It’s getting late,” he said and went to the gate.“Let’s open to the public.”“Before you go,” Aengus said, regarding Dylan.“When you’re around and need anything, you can call me.” He handed a card to the human.“You can call even if it’s just to talk about something.” He chuckled, a hint of nervousness in his voice.Dylan pursed his lips, looking at the number on the card.“Sure,” he said faintly and followed his brother.“See you later?” Aengus asked in expectation. He just couldn’t hide his emotions when around Dylan, and everyone could see it.“Sure,” Dylan repeated without looking back.Kevin stopped abruptly when his watch beeped. He checked it then his cell phone.“This is odd.I have a great number of dots on my radar,” he said faintly, looking up, but he couldn’t see anything. His heart pounded in his chest. The number of possible enemies was haunting, so much so that many of the dots were barely detectable.“Wait, don’t open the gate,” he told the gatekeepers.Fortunately, they closed it without anyone coming to this side.“They’re coming quickly,” Uri said, looking at the dark sky.“There’s a dark aura in their core.Someone must be leading all of them.” He gulped.“The force is so dense.I’m not sure we’ll be able to handle all of them
